Jindea Single Estate Tea Gin is an exquisite gin which as has an elegance to it that puts it in tot a class of its own.
Tasting notes: On the nose it is citrus forward with nice juniper, but it is the fresh tea note that gives it its distinctive character the palate is still citrus that has the upper hand and introduces some stone fruits giving a little bit of peach and mildly tropical flavours followed by warming ginger spice the tea gives a drying mouth feel and a bit of nuttiness and not forgetting very well balanced juniper, the finish is long with black tea and piney juniper. Over all a balanced and refined gin and one I feel will be used a lot in cocktail bars up and down the country.
Serving suggestions. Fever Tree Mediterranean Tonic and a slice of pink grapefruit is a refreshing serve, but my favourite is as a Martini with a splash of grapefruit bitters and served with pink grapefruit zest the bitters add a little sweetness to the cocktail and it becomes very moreish.
Jindea describes itself as a Single Estate Tea Gin using first flush Darjeeling black tea from the Goomtee Estate in India known as the ‘gran cru’ of Darjeeling. First Flush refers to the growing cycle where there are 4 harvests through the year the First Flush is the springtime harvest which produces a delicate and floral Himalayan black tea, known to tea-lovers as the ‘Champagne of Tea’ It’s flavour is musky and sweet like Muscat wine and some vegetal and citrus notes.
