The Duppy Share Rum

£30.00

The Duppy Share is like drinking a liquid carnival, the beautiful golden liquid produced using a blend of 3 year old rums from the Worthy Park Estate in Jamaica and a 5 year old Rum from the Foursquare Distillery in Barbados both of whom make some of the worlds best rums. After ageing the rums are shipped to Amsterdam for blending and then to the UK for bottling.
The nose tempts you with the aroma of banana and other tropical fruit, caramel and a little cinnamon spice it’s a nice rum to sniff and I find myself repeatedly taking in the aroma, the palate is fruity like a West Indian Fruit cake soaked in rum a bit of vanilla from the Barbadian rum and some funky brine and ginger flavours coming through from the Jamaican rum the ginger lingers with a bit of sugar sweetness and a nice citrus tang, a lovely warming finish which keeps me coming back for more.
Serving suggestions: Best served with some Bob Marley and Jimmy Cliff playing in the background, it is perfect with ginger beer and I like to sip on a glass when we have Curried Goat on the menu, but don’t be afraid to add coke or lemonade, Duppy Share is very versatile.
The Name Duppy Share arrives from a similar story to the Angels Share in whisky production where some of the ageing alcohol in the oak cask is lost to evaporation and it is thought the Angels take it, in the Caribbean it is the mischievous Duppy, spirits that dance around the barrels at night taking their share of the rum straight from the cask.
This is a great rum for all occasions especially parties where it will bring a carnival atmosphere to all involved, it makes a good rum punch and I’ve used it in a few of my own cocktails.
