£40.00

Damoiseau have been producing rum agricol in Guadeloupe since 1942 and is owned by run by Hervé Damoiseau the grandson of founder Roger Damoiseau, it is the largest distiller on Guadalupe with a production of around 8 million litters per year.

This rum liqueur is made with Victoria pineapple and a vanilla pod dropped fresh in to the rhum agricole crating an distinctive fresh and sweet tasting drink.

Tasting Notes: Opening the bottle is really cool, sitting in the bottle is the fresh cut Victoria Pineapple and whole vanilla pod infusing literally in the bottle, the liquid is pale gold and looks very enticing the aroma is fresh and fruity pineapple and very tropical a nice cinnamon spicy note and vanilla along with the aroma of fresh grassy notes from the agricol rum. The palate is soft with vanilla giving all the sweetness and the pineapple is tangy and exciting there are some nice balanced spice notes but for the rum lover it is fresh grassy notes of the rhum agricol that ties all the flavours together into a perfectly balanced drink.

Service suggestions: Straight up across ice for an amazing summer drink you could lengthen it with a splash of prosecco and it has been recommended with tonic water and I’ll try that soon and I hope to sit and make some cool cocktails when I get back behind of the bar.

Rum Agrigcol is different from Rum in that it is made from fresh crushed sugar cane juice as opposed molasses which is the by-product of the sugar industry. Rum (Rhum as the French speaking countries call it) agricol was invented on Martinique due to the collapse of the sugar industry due to competition from sugar beat which could be grown in the cooler climate of southern Europe. The difference in flavour is the agricol has more grassy and funky flavours and you can really taste the terroir.
